Liverpool have now confirmed striker Fernando Torres could be out for 15 days, while Ryan Babel should be fit to face Atletico Madrid.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez was already resigned to being without Spain international Torres for Saturday's game with Wigan and next week's trip to Chelsea in addition to the midweek Champions League outing at former club Atletico Madrid. However, after a scan on Thursday revealed a slight tear in his right hamstring, Torres has been told he faces between 10 and 15 days out which could also now see him miss the visit of Portsmouth on Wednesday October 29. Meanwhile Holland international Babel is only set to be missing for the visit of Wigan to Anfield on Saturday after spraining his ankle during his country's 1-0 win in Norway on Wednesday. Liverpool's press spokesman Ian Cotton said: "A scan on Fernando Torres has shown a tear in his right hamstring which will sideline the player for between 10 and 15 days. "Ryan Babel has sprained his left ankle and is a major doubt for Wigan."
