No need to sell Suarez - Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers is confident Luis Suarez will stay at Liverpool after paying tribute to his performance in Sunday's win at Aston Villa.
Suarez won the Reds a second-half penalty as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Villa Park as the Uruguayan turned in another outstanding performance despite being away on international duty last week.
The striker has been linked with a move away this summer and he has hinted he could join a side playing in the Champions League, although he has also insisted he is very happy at Anfield.
And Rodgers believes his star forward will stay, insisting the club do not need to sell Suarez for the money.
He said: "It is very important we keep hold of Luis. He is a wonderful player. He came back late on Thursday, was in training on Friday and I saw how tired he was. He looked totally shattered from all the travel and all the exertions of the games.
"But you look at him at Villa, his energy and willingness to work for the team and just his sheer quality.
"We don't have to sell Luis. There is nothing like that. He is very happy and we don't need to sell him for the money or anything like that."
He added: "Our job is trying to build the group here and add to it. We've bought front and midfield players and we want to keep striving forward and there is no need to sell."
