Pepe hailed by boss

Liverpool, 09:18, November 30, 2009

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has hailed his keeper Pepe Reina as 'world class' after his fantastic double save against Everton.

The Reds were under the cosh against Everton on Sunday afternoon defending a one goal lead with the home side pressing for an equaliser when Reina made a brilliant double save from Tom Cahill and then Marouane Fellaini.

It turned out to be a crucial moment in the match and Benitez was full of praise for his keeper following the win which takes the Reds into fifth in the table.

"For me he is one of the best keepers in the world and today he showed this again," he said.

"Pepe made a crucial save and showed he is a top class keeper.

"To defend in the 90 minutes a lot of free-kicks, throw-ins and corners against a team that is good in the air like Everton is not so easy.

"Pepe helped the defenders sometimes, but especially in this situation and he was amazing.

"When we signed him we knew we were signing a good keeper, but he has improved here and has learned here.

"The goalkeeping coach, Xavi Valero, is doing a good job with him and he is improving every day."
