Rafa cautious over return
Liverpool, 09:23, February 17, 2010 ,
Rafa Benitez says Liverpool will not be tempted into rushing either Fernando Torres or Yossi Benayoun back into action too early.
The star duo have been out of action for over a month but both are now closing in on a return to the side with Benayoun returning to training this week and Torres given the green light to start running last week.
The Reds boss will not be tempted to rush them back too early, despite the importance of their up and coming matches, as he does not want to risk them suffering any setbacks.
He told the Post: "It is important to keep an eye on them all.
"There is a difference between players being available and players being ready to play a game. If they come back early and are ready to play, that is good news for us but we have got to make sure that we do not push them back too soon.
"We need to make sure they will be okay for the last two months of the season. They are all getting that bit closer.
"But when you have a broken rib, like Yossi, or you have the meniscus problem that has kept Fernando out, you cannot reduce the time (it takes to get over the injury)."
