Reds edge closer to striker deal
Liverpool look to have moved a step closer to signing Robbie Keane after he was left out of Tottenham's friendly with Hercules.
The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a switch to Anfield as a replacement for Peter Crouch with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy describing the Reds as 'disgraceful' over their conduct in trying to lure the player from White Hart Lane.
However it now seems like the Londoners have accepted that Keane wants to play for his boyhood heroes after coach Juande Ramos opted to leave him out of his squad for their 1-1 draw against Spanish outfit Hercules on Thursday in which Dimitar Berbatov was partnered up front by goalscorer Darren Bent.
If Ramos is willing to let Keane leave the club it is thought Spurs will be looking for a deal which could net them up to £20million. And it could go through imminently given that the Spanish tactician will want to use the money to find a quality replacement ahead of the new Premier League season on August 16.
