Reds swoop for Swans ace
Liverpool have offered £15million to Swansea for midfielder Joe Allen, which has triggered the release clause in his contract.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been after Allen since his own move to Anfield, despite Swansea claiming an agreement was in place which prevented him signing any Swans players for 12 months, and now he has offered the magic figure, the deal should be a forgone conclusion. Allen only returned to training at Swansea on Wednesday following his involvement in the Olympics with Great Britain, the 22-year-old then held talks with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins and will meet with manager Michael Laudrup on Thursday to discuss the move. If all goes to plan, he will then travel to Liverpool for a medical and to discuss personal terms before completing the move this weekend, becoming Rodgers' second signing following the arrival of striker Fabio Borini.
