Roma have accepted Liverpool's bid for Fabio Borini and the striker is set to become Brendan Rodgers' first signing for around £12m.
Rodgers has been tracking the Italy international over the summer and he appears to have finally got his man after the Serie A club accepted the Reds' offer, believed to be in the region of £12million. The Liverpool boss knows the 21-year-old well as he worked with him at Chelsea before he then signed him on loan when he was manager of Swansea. In his time in Wales, Borini scored six goals in nine league games to help the Swans into the Premier League but he then opted to return home to Italy and joined Parma before he made the switch to Roma. A deal for the forward seemed off a few weeks ago when he said he hadn't thought about a switch to Anfield but he has had a change of heart and is expected to officially complete his move to the club over the weekend. Borini's arrival will cast doubt over Andy Carroll's future amid talk of a loan move away for the England international while a bid for Fulham's Clint Dempsey is also thought to be in the pipeline.
