Striker targeted by boss
Roy Hodgson is said to be leading the race to sign Bolton striker Johan Elmander but may have to pay up to £5 m to land him.
The Swedish striker has been in his best form for Bolton this season but shows no inclination to sign a new deal at the club and could walk away in the summer for nothing.
Bolton are anxious that does not happen as he is their transfer record buy, but Elmander turned down a one-year contract extension with Wanderers last week and is keeping his options open.
Hodgson and his No.2 Sammy Lee watched the striker in action this weekend in Bolton's clash with Blackpool and the Reds chief is ready to splash out up to £5m on a player he has tried to sign in the past and who he sees as a perfect foil for Fernando Torres.
