Torres going nowhere

Liverpool, 12:23, June 19, 2009 ,

Fernando Torres has laughed off speculation that he might become a Manchester United player and pledged his future to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old moved to Anfield from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007 and has established himself as one of the top strikers in the Premier League.
With Cristiano Ronaldo's imminent move to Real Madrid, reports suggested that the Spain international hit-man was set to become a target for the Premier League champions.
However, Torres insists he is going nowhere and is happy to continue plying his trade under Rafa Benitez with his current deal.
"I'm very happy with my contract and wouldn't leave just to earn a little more somewhere else where I wouldn't be that happy," he said. "To want any more would be greedy and that is not me. As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay."
Punters wishing to use a £10 free bet might see Torres' remarks as a confidence boost for Liverpool, as they look to topple United from the Premier League perch next season, and back the Reds to take the title next term.
Torres, who is currently in South Africa with the Spain squad for the Confederations Cup, feels that there is a feel-good factor at Anfield at present and he is determined to pick up silverware while at the north-west giants.
He added: "A lot of players committed themselves to Liverpool this summer with new contracts and players don't do that unless they think they can have their ambitions met.
"There is a lot of belief at the club and a lot of trust in the manager. I sincerely believe I will win the Premier League and the Champions League here. The winning tradition is very clear at Liverpool. I want to be involved in a little piece of their history."
