Upbeat Rafa eyes title

Liverpool, 10:47, January 20, 2009 ,

Rafa Benitez says Liverpool still have a great chance of winning the title despite the disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Everton.

The Reds let a one-goal lead slip late on at Anfield as their Merseyside rivals claimed a deserved point on Monday night.
The result leaves Benitez's side in their best position in January under his management, level on points with leaders Manchester United but having played a game more, but there are still big question marks over whether Liverpool can last the pace after dropping more home points.
However, a bullish Benitez insisted the derby result was not a major setback and his side will fight all the way for their 19th league title in the remainder of the campaign.
He said: "We are on level points with United so in a very good position. I think about the positives. We are in the (FA) Cup and the Champions League so there are lots of positive things.
"To play a derby against a team like Everton who always want to win is not easy. With a few minutes to go we were in a winning position and were close to winning."
Benitez added: "We always try to progress in every competition and we always try to win but we have to think about the positives."
