Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has explained why he asked to leave the club and rejoin Ajax on loan.
The Dutch youngster wants regular first-team football which he is not getting at Liverpool but he never wanted to leave the club on any more than just a temporary basis.
Babel said after the win in Eindhoven on Tuesday: "I have talked to the manager about my future, about maybe a loan somewhere so I can play every week.
"Ajax was only an example, a possibility, not something I was trying to make happen.
"Rafa has said no. He did not promise me anything for the rest of the season, there were no conditions and I have to accept this."
