Young star facing surgery

Liverpool, 18:47, March 31, 2010 ,

Rafa Benitez has revealed that Martin Kelly will miss the rest of the season after being forced to undergo a knee operation.

The teenage defender recently returned to the first team squad as a second-half substitute in the 4-1 Premier League win over Portsmouth after a month on the sidelines.
But Kelly suffered a torn meniscus in training at the weekend and the Reds medical team have advised the 19-year-old to have surgery, leaving him to concentrate on getting fit for next season.
Its yet another defensive blow for Benitez, who is also currently without Martin Skrtel and Fabio Aurelio through injury.
