Elliott Hewitt has completed his move from Macclesfield to Ipswich for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old right-back has passed a medical and penned a three-year deal at Portman Road, with the six-figure fee including add-ons having the potential to break Macc's record transfer fee of £300,000 received for Rickie Lambert in 2002.
Hewitt was released by Stoke before progressing through the youth ranks at the Moss Rose, making his debut for the club on the final day of the 2010/11 season to become their youngest-ever player at just 16 years and 342 days.
He went on to make 24 appearances last term before his campaign was cut short in early March due to injury, with the Silkmen unable to avoid relegation from the Football League.
Hewitt, a Wales Under-21 international who has been capped five times, can also play in midfield.
