City could extend Vieira stay
Patrick Vieira could yet have a future at Manchester City with boss Roberto Mancini pondering whether to offer him a player-coach role.
The French midfielder, who made just four league starts last term, was named on the Premier League's free transfer list last week and is said to be attracting attention from several Championship clubs as well as some in the US and the Middle East.
However, the veteran midfielder may now be given the chance to stay at Eastlands with Mancini keen to utilise his vast experience as a coach while also retaining his playing services as cover.
There have been suggestions he could head back to Arsenal as a coach as well - the club he spent nine years at and helped win three Premier League titles, but it is thought he would favour staying at City for the time being.
The club's board are said to be ready to offer him a new role as they are keen to make use of his experience ahead of City's first-ever Champions League campaign next season.
