City in £12m striker swoop

Manchester City are reportedly close to agreeing a £12million pre-contract agreement with Fiorentina for the signing of Stevan Jovetic.

City boss Roberto Mancini was interested in signing the 22-year-old Montenegro international during the summer transfer window, but Fiorentina managed to stand firm and hold onto their star man. And, despite the window now being closed for business until January, reports in Italy are suggesting that City and the Viola have reached an agreement which will see Jovetic eventually make the move to the Etihad Stadium, possibly next summer as opposed to the New Year. The signing of Jovetic will be a real boost for Mancini as the player has impressed in Italy's Serie A since joining Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in 2008 with 28 goals in 89 appearances while he has 10 goals in just 21 outings for his country.
