City in Biton swoop link

Manchester City, 10:05, January 27, 2012

Manchester City are reportedly looking to sign Israeli midfielder Nir Biton after he impressed on a recent trial at the Etihad Stadium.

The highly-rated 20-year-old, who has been capped twice by Israel, has attracted the interests of several Premier League clubs, but City moved quickly to hand him a week-long trial at the club's training ground.
And, Biton, who has been described as the next Cesc Fabregas, did enough for City to look for a six-month loan swoop with a view to a permanent deal in the summer should the player continue to prove he could eventually cut it in the English top flight.
On City's interest, Jacky Ben Zaken, the owner of Biton's current club, Israeli Premier League outfit AS Ashdod, told the Jewish Chronicle: "They want to take him on loan immediately and want an option to buy him in the future."
The problem City are faced with is that Ashdod are keen to get the funds for Biton now as opposed to waiting until the summer. And, with interest high in the player, they could possibly afford to hold out and secure a sale sooner rather than later.
