Manchester City are reported to be lining up a January swoop for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun.
Benayoun was dropped for last weekend's 2-0 loss at Chelsea after being made a scapegoat for the defeat against Fiorentina in the Champions League just a few days before.
City boss Mark Hughes has been alerted to the situation at Anfield and reports claim he is lining up a bid for the Israel ace even though he is well blessed for midfielders.
Benayoun only signed a new improved deal with the Reds in the summer that is due to run until 2013 but that will not stop money-bags City making an approach in January.
