Manchester City are set to make a special request to the Argentinian FA not to play star striker Sergio Aguero against Peru on Tuesday.
Aguero has been out injured since the opening day of the season after hurting his knee in the victory over Southampton. There were real fears the 24-year-old forward could be out for six months but scans later showed he suffered no ligament damage. City boss Roberto Mancini has allowed his man to travel back to his homeland to be further assessed by doctors from the Argentinian Football Association, in accordance with FIFA rules. Aguero is suspended for Argentina's game against Paraguay on Friday evening but City have become increasingly concerned by reports he will be deemed fit enough to feature against Peru four days later. The £38million frontman is still complaining of soreness and has been put in an difficult situation. Sources have indicated City will now make a plea over the weekend to keep their man sidelined and not risk a relapse.
