Defender ignores City rumours
Manchester City and Chelsea could be set for disappointment if they hope to land David Luiz from Brenfica in the New Year.
The centre-back has attracted plenty of interest from across Europe following his impressive performances for his Portuguese club, but the Brazilian has made it clear he has no desire to move on. The 23-year-old is contracted to Benfica until 2015 and he insists he remains happy to stay where he is despite speculation linking him with a big money switch to the Premier League in January, even though he could earn a lot more. "If it was only a question of money, I would not be at Benfica as I am now," Luiz told the Portuguese press. "I have decided to stay and I did not want to leave at the end of last season. I am happy at Benfica and I remember that my deal finishes in June 2015. "My future is in the hands of God. Now, I would ignore the chance to leave in January, next summer or in 2015. "I am a professional and my mission is to work every day to increase my standing in football. The rumours from England? It does not depend on me."
