Elano issues quit ultimatum

Manchester City, 13:30, June 6, 2009 ,

Elano has warned manager Mark Hughes he will quit Manchester City this summer if he is not offered a new contract.

The Brazil midfielder, on international duty preparing for a World Cup qualifier in Montevideo, is worried he will fall further down the pecking order at Eastlands following the £12m arrival of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old has confirmed he held face-to-face talks with Hughes and demanded a new contract - despite only being halfway through a four-year deal.
The versatile midfielder revealed: "I had a meeting with the club's management and I asked them if - with all the players that they plans to buy - do they value me too?
"I only asked that they be straight with me. If they offer me a new contract now, I stay. If not, I intend to leave, to find another club."
