Hughes' defender deal plan

Manchester City, 10:53, June 8, 2009 ,

Man City are tipped to test Everton's resolve to keep £15m-rated Joleon Lescott with striker Jo possibly used as bait.

Goodison Park boss David Moyes has already gone on record confirming he does not want to sell his best players, but the Blues hope a head-turning bid will change his stance.
Lescott's versatility appeals to Eastlands chief Mark Hughes and he could up the ante by offering hitman Jo as part of the deal after the Brazilian spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton.
City will also hope their massive wages will play a part in securing Lescott who is equally adept at left-back and centre-half, while he has also been thrown up front in the past when Everton have been chasing games.
Jo cost City £18m but they cannot hope to recoup close to that fee so offering him in part exchange could be their best option, with the player happy with life at Everton.
