Hughes to bring back big guns

Manchester City, 09:32, September 26, 2008 ,

Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Micah Richards will return to the Man City line up against Wigan as boss Mark Hughes goes for goals.

The Citizens were stunned on Wednesday night when they were dumped out of the Carling Cup second round on penalties following a 2-2 draw at League One Brighton. And Hughes is now looking for his side to bounce back with another Premier League success against Steve Bruce's Latics at the JJB Stadium on Sunday.
The former Blackburn chief will bring back his lethal attacking duo of Brazilian striker Robinho and wing man Wright-Phillips, while England international Richards will be back in defence in a much-changed line up to the one which lost to the Seagulls in midweek.
Hughes insists the quality of attacking players at City means he will not detract from his policy of attack being the best form of defence.
"I think we benefit from being positive and that technical ability we have in midfield areas and out wide will always cause problems to teams whether they are good, bad or indifferent and we will stick at it," he said.
"The players enjoy each other's company and the day-to-day training and there is more to come from the group that we have; we are just touching the surface of the potential.
"We are nowhere near the complete article as we saw on Wednesday and the journey to where we want to go is not going to be completely smooth but we are just close to the beginnings of what we want to do with the squad
"What the Brighton game showed is that we cannot afford to go into any game without a top level of performance."
