Manchester City star Gareth Barry will miss England's Euro 2012 bid due to a tear to his lower abdomen.
The midfielder came on at the start of the second half of Saturday's 1-0 friendly win against Norway in Oslo but lasted just 28 minutes after picking up the problem to his groin. Following a scan on the injury on Monday, it was confirmed that Barry had suffered a tear and subsequently he will not be able to travel with Roy Hodgson's Three Lions squad to Poland and the Ukraine next month. The Football Association confirmed that Everton's Phil Jagielka has been called up as his replacement. "I am very disappointed to lose Gareth. Not only was he a member of my original 23-man squad but he has featured prominently in the England team over the last few years," said Hodgson. "I know how much he wanted to be part of the tournament but I'm sure he will still have a part to play with England after the Euros. "I wish him a speedy recovery."
