Kompany signs new City deal

Man City star Vincent Kompany has ended talk of a move to Barcelona by signing a new five-year deal at Eastlands.
The Belgium international, 23, still had three years to run on his previous contract but the Blues have moved to secure him until 2014 much to Kompany's delight.
The former Hamburg star told the club's website: "There has been no speculation from my side because I have just signed the new deal but it is the kind of thing you have to get used to when you play for this club now.
"In the end you just don't pay attention to the speculation. City's ambitions are my ambitions and I want to be one of the main players in a very big team."
Boss Mark Hughes has hailed Kompany as "a big part of our future" as he bids to break the stranglehold of the so-called 'Big Four'.
