Manchester City are still being linked with striker Edinson Cavani this summer despite his recent vow to stay at Napoli.
City boss Roberto Mancini is thought to be targeting Arsenal's Dutch hitman Robin van Persie during this current transfer window as he looks to improve the Premier League champions so they can make a bid for Champions League glory next term. However, it appears that the Italian tactician does not feel confident of prising Van Persie away from the Emirates Stadium so will look to have alternative options to aim for. As a result Mancini is again thought to be looking at 25-year-old Uruguay international striker, Cavani, who has scored 66 goals in 94 Serie A matches since moving to Naples from Palermo in 2010. Napoli would be looking for around £40million for Cavani's services which would probably see Mancini try and offload the likes of Dzeko and Emmanuel Adebayor to free up space on the wage bill. However, the main obstacle for Mancini is that, despite Napoli's failure to secure top European football next term, Cavani recently insisted he was not looking to leave the club this summer. Cavani, who is set to play for Uruguay at this summer's London Olympics, told El Pais: "I just think of Napoli. I am not leaving for another club this summer. I will continue here. I have four years left on this contract and I am very confident about my future. "Now, I want to rest and then help my team at the Games in London."
