Midfielder race hots up

Everton and Manchester City are ready to battle it out for the services of Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia.
The 23-year-old Cameroon international is attracting plenty of interest and both Everton and City are in the hunt after Marseille failed to meet the valuation of the player.
Some reports have now claimed that Everton are leading the race but Rennes sporting director Pierre Dreossi has refused to confirm whether that is the case or not.
"It's true Marseille are very interested in Mbia and we have spoken and discussed figures, but what they are prepared to pay is not enough," said Dreossi.
"What I can say is that English clubs are leading the chase. They are ready to match our valuation."
