Micah Richards says there has "never been a better time" to beat Man Utd as they look to wrestle the title away from their rivals.
City head into Monday's massive derby knowing nothing else but a win will do as they look to leapfrog their local rivals and go top of the league with just two games left to play.
The possibility of overhauling United looked out of City's reach when they lost to Arsenal on Easter Sunday but three wins on the bounce, coupled with the Red Devils dropping five points has seen the Citizens come back into the title picture.
Should City finish above United this season it will be the first time the Eastlands faithful will have had the bragging rights over their rivals since the Premier League began.
Richards, who graduated from the academy at Manchester City, knows all about living in the shadow of United and is keen to finally emerge from it by beating United on Monday.
"Because United have always been better than us and have always had the bragging rights, it just makes it a little bit more special," Richards told the club's website.
"I've played against them since I was part of the Under-14s and they've always been the better at every level.
"The players who have just come in didn't really know what the derby in Manchester was all about - they're getting it now, though!
"Everyone wants to beat United because it's a huge game and there's never been a better time for this."
Punters who fancy using their free bet might look at backing Manchester City given they now seemingly have the momentum in the title fight.
