Rivals rule out midfielder deal

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has ruled out a summer swoop for City midfielder Stephen Ireland.
Ireland has struggled for first-team action since the arrival of Roberto Mancini and is widely expected to leave Eastlands in the summer with Aston Villa and Tottenham linked.
Spurs boss Redknapp is keen to strengthen his ranks for next season's Champions League campaign but it seems as though central midfield is not an area he is looking to bolster.
"Stephen is undoubtedly a very good player but we have a lot of players who can fill that position," Redknapp revealed. "I like him but he won't be a target."
