Striker handed three-game ban

Manchester City, 15:06, September 17, 2009 ,

Man City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been banned for at least three matches for violent conduct against Arsenal.

The former Arsenal striker left his mark on Robin van Persie's face during Saturday's feisty clash at Eastlands, but the charge had been reluctantly accepted by the player and City yesterday.
With the FA set to consider a charge of improper conduct relating to his goal celebration at a later date, the matches he sits out could be stacking up - although Mark Hughes' first concern will be who replaces him for Sunday's Manchester derby.
The Togo international ran the full length of the pitch to confront Arsenal's fans after scoring during Saturday's 4-2 win.
Adebayor will now miss the trip to Old Trafford plus the home Carling Cup clash with Fulham on September 23 and the Eastlands encounter with West Ham five days later.
Adebayor will now have his fingers crossed that he is not forced to miss any more action when he learns his fate from his second charge.
