Txiki comments on Robinho
Manchester City, 10:01, October 12, 2009 ,
Barcelona have confirmed their interest in Robinho and admit they are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.
The Champions League winners' sporting director Txiki Begiristain revealed that they may need to add to their squad to cover for midfielders Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure - lost to the African Cup of Nations - and also that they could buy a forward.
"There are options for us to strengthen (the squad) yes," Begiristain said in an interview with Sport newspaper.
"We will see if any of our defenders can play in central midfield," he added. "It's an option. Depending on that, we could look to buy a forward."
Asked whether Barca would make an offer for City's Brazilian forward Robinho, Begiristain said: "He is a very interesting footballer and could play (for us) in the Champions League."
Begiristain said the club was still interested in French ace Franck Ribery, should Bayern Munich want to sell him, and added he was sure Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas would move back to Barcelona at some future date.
