Alba race hots up
Manchester United are set to battle with Manchester City for the services of Valencia star Jordi Alba in the summer.
Sir Alex Ferguson is targeting a long-term successor to Patrice Evra and is reported to have identified Alba, who has impressed for Valencia in La Liga this season.
The Reds boss has sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action and is ready to make a move at the end of the season after receiving favourable reports on the player.
Valencia are keen to keep hold but they have a history of cashing in on their star players and will do so again if United or City can match their £15million valuation.
City almost made a move for the player during the January window and will reignite their interest when the transfer window re-opens and it could be down to the player to decide where he wants to play his football next season.
