Tottenham will miss out on the signing of Fraizer Campbell because the player is determined to have a future at Manchester United.
Reports claim Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is ready to ask Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson to name his price for the youngster, who has scored three times in four games, but it looks a no go.
Campbell has said that he can already see vast improvements in his game in the short period of time since Redknapp took over at Spurs, but he isn't ready to abandon hope that he could be the first striker from United's youth team to carve out a successful career at Old Trafford under Ferguson.
"I would love to be the first home grown striker to make it big under Sir Alex at United. I see my long-term future as being at Old Trafford, so I am going to work really hard all season," he said.
It means Redknapp will have to look elsewhere as he looks for a new striker to bolster his ranks next summer with Emile Heskey and Kevin Doyle thought to be targets.
