Champions League hero rested

Manchester United, 12:20, December 10, 2008 ,

Ben Foster knows tonight's clash with Aalborg is another chance to show his manager that he's ready to succeed Edwin van der Sar.

The ex-Wrexham keeper is set to start his second Champions League game of the campaign and wants to follow the example of Brazilian starlet Rafael who appears to have wrestled the first-team right-back slot away from more experienced players.
"It is good to see it can be done," said Foster. "Young players show what they can do in training, then, if they do it in matches they are kept in the team.
"I would like to think that could happen with me as well. I just have to keep doing the same things in training and hopefully my chance will come along.
Foster started last week's 5-3 Carling Cup win over Blackburn Rovers and earned praise from Sir Alex Ferguson for the saves he made in the first half to keep the scores level.
