Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Dutch defender Alexander Buttner after he flew in for his medical.

United have agreed a fee in the region of £3.9m for the 23-year-old's services as they look to increase pressure on first choice left-back Patrice Evra, following Fabio's loan move to QPR.
Sir Alex Ferguson has made no secret of his desire to bring in a new full-back this summer with Everton's England international Leighton Baines believed to have figuring highly on his wanted list.
However, the Scot was forced to look elsewhere by the Merseyside's reluctance to sell him and has now instead turned to the Vitesse Arnhem star, who has previously attracted interest from Fulham, Southampton and QPR.
Buttner told The Guardian: "I'm travelling to Manchester this evening [Sunday] and I'm very delighted that such a big club bought me.
"If you had told me one week ago that I would be training with and playing for the same team as Robin van Persie, I would have sent you to a mental home!
"This is crazy stuff, beyond all my dreams. I am looking forward to this challenge so much. I am so proud and so glad that it has worked out like this."
