Fergie's new boy warning

Sir Alex Ferguson has been told new Man Utd midfielder Gabriel Obertan is not the finished article yet.

The 20-year-old is poised to arrive at Old Trafford from French champions Bordeaux although he played little part for Laurent Blanc's side last season.

But as Fergie nears a £3m swoop, Blanc has warned that Obertan has "mental challenges" to overcome before he can prove his potential.

The former Red Devils defender said: "Manchester United have been tracking him for a long time.

"They certainly hope to advance him, something that Bordeaux and (former loan club) Lorient have failed to do. He has the potential. But he must overcome psychological and mental challenges, so he can express his true value."

Obertan is understood to be in Manchester for a medical and to tie up the loose ends of the deal.
