Ferguson ready for more challenges

Manchester United, 17:04, July 28, 2010 ,

Sir Alex Ferguson has no plans to quit as Manchester United boss as he thrives on the challenge of keeping the club at the very top.

Ferguson may now be 68 but his appetite for the game remains as strong as ever and he has no immediate plans to retire from his post at Old Trafford.
Fergie has won everything possible while in charge of the Reds but he says the constant challenge of keeping the club at the pinnacle of the game means the drive and desire is still there, while he is thankful he remains healthy and therefore able to cope with the pressures of the job.
"It's a fantastic football club that demands a challenge all the time, every day, evening, and every year because we have the challenge of being at the top. I think that helps me," he told CNN.
"Second thing is I think you need good energy, natural energy, which I'm blessed with. I'm fortunate with that and the third thing is I can keep going as long as my health is going.
"And that applies to every person. So far my health is standing up.
"So these are factors that are important and also the opportunity to work with very good footballers with good desires about themselves. At Manchester United we don't just work with their ability, we try to build their character and make them better human beings in terms of standards and responsibilities and the response I've had over the years has been good."
United take on an MLS all-stars side in their next pre-season friendly on Wednesday night out in America.
