Manchester United are waiting to see how serious Robin van Persie's injury is after he was forced off playing for the Netherlands.
The £24million summer acquisition from Arsenal left the pitch during the Dutch's 4-1 World Cup qualifier win against Hungary on Tuesday because of a thigh problem.
However, international coach Louis van Gaal moved to allay fears that 29-year-old Van Persie is poised for a spell on the sidelines by claiming his withdrawal was a "precautionary measure".
"It does not seem to be too serious, but we did not want to take any risks," he told Dutch broadbaster SBS6.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be desperately hoping Van Persie, who has already scored four goals in three games since moving to Old Trafford, will be fit for Saturday's visit of Wigan and next Wednesday's Champions League group opener with Galatasaray as fellow forward Wayne Rooney is already ruled out with a leg injury.
