Full-back deal denied

Manchester United, 16:35, November 29, 2009

Manchester United have not made a bid for Cardiff City defender Adam Matthews but the Welsh club will sell him for the right price.

The 17-year-old has been attracting interest from a host of Premier League teams after bursting onto the first-team scene with the Bluebirds this season.
Reports earlier this week claimed United had won the race for the highly-rated full-back's signature but City boss Dave Jones insists that is not the case.
He told Sky Sports News, "It is pure speculation.
"Nothing has happened, nothing has been said and at this point in time we are trying to build and if we can keep hold of all our best young players, that is the best way to do it."
However, Jones admits it would be difficult to keep hold of Matthews if they received a good offer for his services.
He added: "We have always maintained that if the right offer comes in for one of our players, and it is the right offer for this club we would listen.
"It is very difficult if Manchester United are interested, for us to say stay here and see out your contract with Cardiff and forget about going into the Premier League with one of the best clubs in Europe, we had that problem with Aaron Ramsey when Arsenal came in, if there is an offer made, then that will be done and we will look at it if it comes in writing."
