German playmaker scouted again
Manchester United are keeping close tabs on emerging Bundesliga star Mario Goetze at Borussia Dortmund.
Reports in Germany claim United have been the scouting 18-year-old midfielder all season, but have stepped up the frequency of their visits to the home of the runaway Bundesliga leaders since the turn of the year.
Sir Alex Ferguson is still on the lookout for a future playmaker with the capability to take over the mantle of Paul Scholes and Goetze has been compared to Germany international Michael Ballack.
The teenager came on as a second-half substitute for Germany last Wednesday night and impressed in only his second appearance for the senior national side.
Dortmund know they have a special player on their hands and have raised the player's price tag from £12 million to £20 million, but with Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona also interested, Ferguson will probably have to match their valuation in order to secure the player.
