Giggs rule dout of Wales post
Manchester United, 11:12, September 10, 2010 , | No Comments
Sir Alex Ferguson insists Ryan Giggs will not combine his playing career with Manchester United and managing the Wales national team.
The United boss has spoken out following reports the 36-year-old could be approached to replace the outgoing John Toshack, who stepped down with immediate effect on Thursday. And Ferguson confirmed that the Welsh FA would be wasting their time asking Giggs because he is just concentrating on playing for United.
"I spoke to him. It will not happen," said Ferguson.
On the possibility of Giggs combining management with a playing career, he added: "It is impossible to do both. We have to be selfish here.
"I am not even prepared to negotiate on this matter.
"At his age, Ryan needs to use all his energy and concentration to be here.
"It is a big season for him. It is maybe his second last, it may be his last. We want it to be the second last.
"The best way for that to happen is for him to concentrate on being here."
