Jones alongside Rio for crunch clash
Manchester United,

Chris Smalling and Danny Welbeck are out of United's final Premier League game of the season at Sunderland.
Smalling needs a groin operation while Welbeck has not recovered from the ankle injury that he sustained during last month's Manchester derby. It means Phil Jones should start alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence as United look for the win that would allow them to retain the title if Manchester City fail to beat QPR. Rafael is in contention to come in at right back while Nani and Ashley Young look set to fight it out for the left hand side berth if, as expected, Antonio Valencia, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick retain their midfield berths. Sir Alex Ferguson could include youngsters Will Keane and Larnell Cole on the bench. Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov are in the squad in what is expected to be their last game for the club.
