Keeper battle lines drawn

Edwin van der Sar is hoping to earn another contract extension at Old Trafford by hitting his 30-match target for the Reds this season.

The Dutch veteran, who turns 40 next month, is not contemplating retirement yet and wants to reach the total of matches that would trigger an automatic contract renewal as fast as possible.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly ready to give backup keeper Tomasz Kuszczak chances in the Champions League group matches against the likes of Rangers and Bursaspor to keep his morale and fitness up.
But van der Sar, who was alleged to have not been the most helpful to the Poland international last season, does not want to miss a single game.
