Macheda ready to shine

Manchester United youngster Federico Macheda believes this could be the season he fulfils his potential at Old Trafford.
The 18-year-old struggled with injury problems last season and scored just once for United in a disappointing campaign that had begun with high expectationa after he had shot to prominence the season before with two goals in April to help Sir Alex Ferguson's side lift the title in 2009.
Macheda was restricted to just 10 appearances in all competitions last term but, having scored twice in the 5-2 friendly win over MLS All Stars this week, he says he is now ready to star for United.
"This year could be the one for me," he said in the Daily Mail. "I'm ready to play and I hope the manager will pick me for many games.
"Last season I had many injuries and was out for almost five months so I couldn't really show my strengths, but this season I hope to have more chances to show what I can do."
