Midfielder move ruled out

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed speculation suggesting a move for Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera is on the cards.

The Reds boss is thought to have closed the cheque book at Old Trafford but that has not stopped reports suggesting he is targeting a pre-deadline swoop for the 22-year-old. Herrera plays for Pachuca in his homeland and their sporting director, Andres Fassi, has been quoted as saying that both United and Liverpool were in the hunt to sign him. However when quizzed about Fassi's claims, Ferguson dismissed the chances of a deal going through. "I don't know where that came from," he said. "Nothing's happening." Herrera is also in the dark over a proposed move and it seems as though it is a non-starter.
