Never write Ferguson off - Giggs
Manchester United, 12:49, September 6, 2009 ,
Ryan Giggs is convinced Sir Alex Ferguson has one last trick up his sleeve before the pair finally call it a day at Manchester United.
Worried fans and pundits alike have been quick to write the champions off this season because of the loss of Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo - and Ferguson's reluctance to try and replace him.
All-time appearance maker Giggs feels it would be folly to write manager Ferguson off just yet before he ends his long association with Old Trafford and cited the previous departures of the likes of Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Ruud Van Nistelrooy as proof that no one player is bigger than the club.
"The club won't stand still because players have left," he told the Sunday Mirror. "We will continue to evolve under the manager and maintain our challenge for silverware.
"People are making a far bigger thing of it outside the club than we are.
"Obviously Cristiano was a world-class player and will be missed - but how many times have players left United and we have been written off only to prove the critics wrong?
"I have seen great players come and go, but the drive and determination to succeed remain the same.
"Don't underestimate the manager. I have discovered over the years he always seems to come up with the answers."
