New Qatar bid link to Reds

Manchester United, 12:12, February 24, 2011

The royal family of Qatar are reportedly set to offer the Glazer family a new £1.5billion bid for Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with interest from Qatar over the course of this season and there were claims that the Al Thani family had a £1billion offer rejected earlier this month.
However press reports are now suggesting that the Qataris remain determined to gain control at Old Trafford as they aim to mark their arrival in world football in style.
The Daily Mail claims the Qatar interest is largely based on their rivalry with the Abu Dhabi royal family, who have invested millions of pounds to transform United's arch-rivals Manchester City.
Investment company Qatar Holdings, which identifies ways to invest the country's oil billions, recently denied there were plans for a new offer to takeover at Old Trafford. But the fresh reports indicate that the Al Thani family could make an offer privately or through a different investment company.
If a new bid is forthcoming they will face a real fight to gain control of United as current owners the Glazers have repeatedly stressed that the club is not for sale at any price.
