Rio return prospects reviewed
Rio Ferdinand could return at Spurs on Saturday after Sir Alex Ferguson admitted his defensive options have been boosted.
The Reds captain was injured on the eve of the Premier League season when he damaged a thigh in training. But after a four-week break, during which he took his family caravanning in north Wales, he has a chance of selection at White Hart Lane this weekend.
"Rio has been in training this week and has a got a chance for Saturday," said the United boss.
"I'm not sure how big a chance but he has got a chance.
"I don't know if there is any injuries with the players coming back from games but I think the England players are all right.
"We're better off than we have been for months, in terms of defensive options."
Wes Brown, Gary Neville and Fabio da Silva are also back in contention for the Spurs match, but John O'Shea picked up a calf injury on duty with the Republic of Ireland and is being assessed in Manchester.
