Ronaldo return on cards

Manchester United, 11:33, August 31, 2008 ,

Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo could return to action by the end of September after stepping up his rehab after ankle surgery.

The Portugal international weighed in with 42 goals last season but underwent an operation during a summer which was overshadowed by Real Madrid's ultimately fruitless pursuit of him.
Boss Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he will not rush the 23-year-old back but Ronaldo himself has now handed the Red Devils a major boost.
"I am feeling fine. I am feeling really good and my recovery is going well," he said.
"I am more than happy with my progress and I hope to be back playing for United by the end of September - that is my target and it is a realistic one."
Ronaldo added: "It has been frustrating to miss the start of the Premier League season but I am pleased with my rehabilitation and, hopefully, I'll be ready soon."
