Rooney makes United future pledge
Manchester United, 08:41, November 13, 2009 ,
Wayne Rooney says 'it is nice to be noticed' but ruled out the prospect of leaving Manchester United while he wants to sign a new deal.
The 24-year-old, who is currently preparing to line up for England in a friendly against Brazil in Doha on Saturday, has been linked with a world record switch to Barcelona in the past week. However, when quizzed about the prospect of him departing Old Trafford, Rooney claimed it was very unlikely and he would like to extend his current contract which runs out in two years.
He said: "It is nice to be noticed, but I have said before I am really happy at United. Unless they tell me otherwise, I can't see myself leaving.
"I have got two years left on my contract after this year and I am sure we will be negotiating a new deal in the next few months.
"I love the place. It is 30 minutes from home and all my family and I have got a great chance of winning trophies.
"Although I was an Everton fan, I loved watching United play. They won a lot of trophies too, but it was more than just that.
"It was the way they played and attacked. The way they played right to the end. They scored all those last-minute goals, which showed their desire to want to keep going.
"Now, I am there and I have won trophies there myself. I just want to win more."
