Rooney warned over Chelsea spat

Manchester United, 13:47, November 10, 2009

Striker Wayne Rooney has been warned by the FA after appearing to mouth ''12th man'' into a TV camera after the loss to Chelsea.

Rooney appeared to mouth the comments as he left the pitch following the reigning champions 1-0 loss on Sunday.

However, Rooney has escaped a misconduct charge from the FA and they have instead issued him with a warning.

An FA spokesperson said: ''Wayne Rooney has been warned as to his future conduct following remarks made yesterday.''

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson also escaped a misconduct charge after describing the free kick decision which led to Chelsea's goal as "absolutely ridiculous".
